The Holy Spirit
Unseen by the world, but seen and heard in our hearts. By grace through faith we are saved. In faith we believe, trust, and obey. Willing obedience, shows God that we love him. Out of love we receive the gift of the Holy spirit to help guide us and show us the way through life in this world till the next.
John 3:3-8
3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." 4 How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!" 5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unles he is born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
(When we ask the Lord into our lives and begin to walk in his ways, giving up our own, we receive the Holy spirit. God is gracious in giving well beyond what we deserve. God speaks to us through his Holy spirit.. A door is open in our mind, one leading to the one and true God. We are given wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. When we speak from the Holy spirit, or rather, the Holy spirit speaks. Wisdom that is unknown to us is heard.)

John 7:37-39

37 On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

(Receiving the Holy spirit as our guide is like a dry river bed being filled with water. We are given new life and understanding. A whole new world opens up to us that was once hidden. When we are dry in life we are healed through the Holy spirit. Before being made new through the baptism of the Holy spirit, you do not even realize that you are dry. There is an emptiness hidden from most peoples eyes. The world try's to fill the empty spot with pleasures from the world. But that Spot is reserved for the Lord. Once you are baptized by the Holy spirit, your eyes are open to how much you need God.)

John 14:15-26

15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever- 17 the spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him." 22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "But, Lord, who do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?" 23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and will come to him and make our home with him. 24 He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. 25 "All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, who the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."

(After asking the Lord into your life, you must begin to obey him. You must follow His ways. If you only ask him into your life and never begin to follow him, then you will not receive the Holy spirit. Obedience is proof of your willing love for God. It is written "Not everyone who says, 'Lord, Lord', will be saved, but only those who do the will of my Father in Heaven." It is also written that God said, "This is my son in whom I am well pleased, "LISTEN TO HIM".)

John 15:26-27

26 "When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. 27 And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning."

(The Holy Spirit will lead you in the ways you should go. At first with groans and urges. Draw close to God and be obedient out of love with all your heart. Then you will learn to hear what the spirit says.)

John 16:7-11

7 "But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 in regard to sin, because they do not believe in me, 10 in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned."

(Jesus left, but he did not leave us alone. Through the Holy spirit, we are convicted when we do wrong. He shows us what is right and good, and he urges us to act upon righteousness. He is our guide through this world of darkness, and Jesus is the light that gives us sight. He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the gate to the Kingdom of Heaven.)

John 16:12-16

12 "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth comes he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you. 16 "In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me."

(We can only understand so much. Some things can not be explained by words. How can we even begin to describe the goodness of God or the things about the Kingdom of Heaven. But the Holy spirit can reach into our hearts and give us the knowledge. We might still not be able to explain the knowledge that we are given, but we know it is there, and we can act upon it.)

1 John 2:27

27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit-just as it has taught you, remain in him.

(Who is a better teacher, God or man. All that are baptized by the Holy spirit are taught by the Holy spirit. Christ is our teacher as it is written, "Do not call anyone father for you only have one Father, and do not call anyone master, for you have only one master, and do not call anyone teacher for you have only one teacher, the Christ." Do not rebuke a man if he tries to teach you but examine the teaching first. It is written "instruct a wise  man, and he will become wiser still". Listen to the Holy spirit for he will lead you into all truth.)

Mark 3:29

29 But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin."

(Those who blasphemed the Holy spirit were ones that called him evil. They called the power by which Christ did miracles, evil. They said that Jesus did his miracles by the power of the prince of demons, when in truth the Holy spirit was healing through him and by him. It is also written "Woe to those who call evil, good, and good, evil".)

Acts 1:4-5

4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy spirit."

Acts 5:30-32

30 The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead 2 whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree. 31 God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel. 32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy spirit, who God has given to those who obey him."

(Again, it is written that the Holy spirit is given to those who obey God. Many think, and are taught, that they receive the Holy Spirit as soon as they ask the Lord into their life. This may be true for some because they may have already begun to turn their heart away from evil and repent to the Lord. Although some people won't receive the Holy spirit because they are not sincere, or truly willing to repent, when they ask Jesus into their hearts.)

Romans 8:5-17

5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. 8 Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. 9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit of Christ, if the spirit of God lives in you. 10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. 12 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation-but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of son ship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs-heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

(Being made new by the Holy spirit, you are sanctified. You become holy, and a child of God.)

1 Corinthians 3:16-17

16 Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? 17 If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple.

(We are God's temple which holds His Holy Spirit. Knowledge, wisdom, and understanding are found within us. From within, in our hearts, we praise and worship God. Treat your body as if it is Holy. Even though you live in the flesh, do not give into the desires of this world and desecrate the temple. Do not let unholy things inside. Fill your heart with godly thing the fruits of the spirit.)

1 Corinthians 12:7-11

7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit. and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

(Jesus taught that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, we could move mountains. If we put all our faith and whole life's will into God's hands, He will be able to use us to our full potential. For him to use us to our full potential we must willingly obey Him. Through God all things are possible. Through faith we receive grace form God.)

2 Corinthians 1:21-22

21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

(The Holy spirit is like a deposit for our souls. Do not be like the man that was given 1 talent (in Jesus' parable of the talents) and did not put it to use, but instead he dug a hole and buried it. Now that you are made new, follow the Lord with all your heart and produce a crop, or multiply what you have been given. Give as you have been given.
