Repentance and Healing

Sometimes it feels as if you climb all the way up the ladder into God’s blessings, and then you sin, and everything falls apart. It feels as if you are trapped and you beg God for mercy and forgiveness. It may even feel as if God has abandoned you and is not listening. But you never really turn from your sins, because you are trapped and the more you think you are standing, you are really falling. You start to become confused and blind and you panic as if there is no way out. Have faith, God is waiting for you to repent from your ways. Indeed, God does forgive your sins, but until you repent (turn from your sins and follow the Lord) you will grieve the Holy spirit and lose fellowship with God and with Jesus Christ our Lord. This is that horrible feeling, that is beyond a natural guilt. It is the feeling of being torn away from God.

When you fall down do you not get back up again? So get back up no matter how many times you fall down, for it is not until you stay down that you have given up. This shows your perseverance. God will show you mercy, will heal you, and will help you get back up. You will gain wisdom from your experience, and you will become stronger.

Deuteronomy 30:1-3

1 When all these blessings and curses I have set before you come upon you and you take them to heart wherever the Lord your God disperses you among the nations, 2 and when you and your children return to the Lord your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today, 3 then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you.

(When you return to the Lord and obey him he will restore all things back to you. It is written, “It is not those who hear the word that are saved, but those who hear the word and obey it.”)

Psalm 66:16-20

16 Come and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me. 17 I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. 18 If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; 19 but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer. 20 Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!

(You can’t hide your sins from God. You may ask for forgiveness but if you still have intentions to continue sinning God will not listen, because you are lying to him and he is a just God. Be sincere, do not come to the Lord asking for forgiveness with false intentions. )

Ezekiel 33:11

11 “As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?”

(Believe it or not God is not a God constantly dispersing his wrath as some think of him. It is true that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, but you must remember that he not only loves you, but that he is love. He gives everyone time according to his will and he knows best. He cannot make you love him but he gives everyone the chance to love Him in this life.)

Hosea 6:1-3

1 “Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. 2 After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence. 3 Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.”

(It is written that the Lord disciplines the ones He loves. When you sin he may discipline you to make you aware and to turn from you ways before you stray away from Him and become deeply involved in sin.)

Hosea 14:1-3

1 Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God. Your sins have been your downfall! 2 Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to him: “Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips. 3 “I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them.

(God is seeking repentance. Just as disaster can come in a day, so can healing. As soon as you sincerely repent, He is waiting there to heal your wounds and care for you.)

Malachi 3:7

7 “ Ever since the time of your forefathers you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me and I will return to you,” says the Lord almighty.

Matthew 3:8

8 “Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.”

(The fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Galatians 5:22-23.)

Mark 1:15

15 “The time has come,” he said, “The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Acts 20:21

21 I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.

 Hebrew 4:14-16

14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weakness, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet was without sin. 16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

(Because Jesus suffered he is there to help others who suffer if they put their faith in him. He is our shepherd and king, and the Father Almighty has given Him all authority over Heaven and Earth.)
