 Judging Others

Everyone hates to be judged, and most are quick to point fingers at others. Those who follow our Lord Jesus Christ must be careful in obeying his commands, and how one displays his conduct in the world. We are here to represent Christ our Lord and to be a light to the world, as He was. The world waits for the Lord's followers to stumble so that they may point their finger, and they throw the word hypocrite around so lightly that they don't even see their own hypocrisy in doing so.

Ecclesiastes 7:21-22
21 Do not pay attention to every word people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you- 22 for you know in your heart that many times you yourself have cursed others.
(We are quick to point fingers and quick to fight back when others offend us. But if we take the time to examine ourselves and what we have done, we will see that we have often offended others. So forgive as you yourself have been forgiven. A man's wisdom gives him patience, it is to his glory to overlook an offense.)

Matthew 7:1-6
1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 22 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and payno attention to the plank in ytour own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
( Jesus says that the act of those who judge others, for the same things that they themselves do, is hypocrisy. He also says not to judge others, so that judgment doesn't fall on you.)

Luke 6:37
37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. (In the gospel of Matthew when Jesus gives the sermon on the mount he says, "If you forgive others when they sin against you, your heavenly father will forgive you of your sins. If you do not forgive others when they sin against you, your heavenly father will not forgive you of your sins.)

John 7:24
24 Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment.
(Don't judge a book by the cover. Look at what is inside of a person rather than what they look like. God is not like man who judges by appearances, but instead he looks at the heart of a man. It is written "Be imitators of God.")

Romans 2:1-3
1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2 Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3 So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? ( Everyone will be judged in the end. No one will escape. Be sure not to judge others. Ask for forgiveness and turn away from judging others.)

Romans 14:9-13
9 For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. 10 You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat. 11 It is written:
"'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me;
every tongue will confess to God.'"
So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. 13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way.
(Judging others and cause them to stumble. They become discouraged or completely give up the way, or lose faith. Maybe you have been a victim of wrongful judgment. Dont give up and don't let someone elses judgment get you down, keep striving to get ahead.)

1 Corinthians 6:1-8
1 If any of you has a dispute with another, dare he take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the saints? 2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world are you not competent to judge trivial cases? 3 Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! 4 Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters appoint as judges even men of little account in the church! 5 I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers? 6 But instead, one brother goes to law against another-and this in front of unbelievers? 7 The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? 8 Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers.
( In the end the saints will bear witness and judge the world. Just as our courts have witnesses, and jury, and judge, so it will be in heaven.)
