Denying the Lord

1 Chronicles 28:9

9 “And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake, him, he will reject you forever.”

(This may be David speaking to Solomon, but this goes for everyone. If you seek the Lord wholeheartedly then he will be found. But if you forsake the Lord, you will not be found in him, nor he in you, in the day of judgment.)

Matthew 10:32-33

32 “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in Heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in Heaven.

(Here Jesus comes right out and says it. This warning should cause fear that will push you to have courage. Don’t be afraid to acknowledge Jesus’ name before men. You should not be ashamed to be a follower of Christ or a friend of God. You know where you stand and that place is a solid rock.)

Hebrews 6:4-8

4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, 6 if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. 7 Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. 8 But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.

(In earlier verses, Paul is teaching about leaving elementary teachings of Christ to pursue perfection in Christ. If anyone would leave Christ after being so far in a relationship with him then they would have no excuse for their punishment, especially after taking part in His kingdom. Once you have been baptized of His there is no turning back. To turn back after knowing Him will call for greater punishment than those who never knew him. Although you may stumble you can get up again. Jesus said to forgive 7 times 77. Jesus and John the Baptist both said to bear fruit while keeping in repentance. So do not fear that if you fail or fall that you are doomed. If that were the case then no one would be saved.)

Hebrews 10:26-31

26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses, 29 How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” 31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

(Jesus told Peter that after the body has been washed that he needs only to wash his feet. Many people ask Jesus into their lives and then continue sinning, even after being led in the right direction. The excuse they give is “God will forgive me”. God only forgives if you have faith (believe, trust, and obey Jesus‘ commands), and repent from your sins. If you ask the Lord into your life sincerely, and sometime along the path, fall away, and continue sinning, you have no faith left to save you. If you were to die you would suffer the same punishment in store for the hypocrites and unbelievers. For it is by grace through faith that we are saved.)

Hebrews 12:25

25 See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven?

(Everyone who has been saved has received the Holy spirit. Learn how to understand discern what the Spirit is saying, and you will not need any mentor or teacher. He will be your teacher. First it will be groans and urges saying, “go this way, go that way, don’t do this, don’t do that.” Then just like an infant grows and learns the language of his parents, so you will learn the language of the Holy spirit.)

2 Peter 2:20-22

20 If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. 21 It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them.

(Jesus said that it would be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgement than for those who saw his coming and did not believe him. It will be even worse for those who have been given the Holy spirit and then are overcome by the world again to die in their knowingly unrepentant sins. Let me also state that you can always repent, and that the Lord will continue to call you back to him. If you constantly deny his calling after you have received him, and continue to grieve His Spirit until you die, then your punishment will be worse than someone who has never known Him.)

1 John 2:22-23

22 Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist-he denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

(In Islam The Father is excepted as God, but Jesus Christ is not excepted as the Son or the Christ. They do not believe that he was raised to life again, or that he died for our sins. They think that they are saved by living a self-righteous life while worshipping and obeying God. They don’t receive the Holy spirit and they are not born again. They do uphold Jesus as a prophet and they believe that he was risen to Heaven. To read some testimonies of people who converted to Christianity from Islam go here.)
